The donations and support we get from people just like you around the world, who share our love and commitment to the residents of Fauna, comes in many forms. We are grateful for your financial help, so we can care for those who call Fauna home. Here are ways you can help.
Caring for the residents is very costly. The annual cost to care for just one chimpanzee is no less than $20,000 per year. Much of that goes to pay for food and medicine. Other costs include maintenance and daily operations. By donating cash your donation can be directed to where the need is greatest.
If you would prefer to set up monthly giving, this can easily be done by cheque or credit card. Please contact us to set up a monthly giving schedule.
Join us on Facebook this March for fun facts about nutrition during our In a Nutshell campaign. Find out about the diet and supplements that are served in order to maintain a balanced diet for the chimpanzees. If you would like to help us with this essential and significant part of our operating budget, donations to In a Nutshell will go directly towards funding supplements and nutritional requirements. Please indicate In a Nutshell in the note section of your donation.
While we greatly appreciate the items you send for the chimpanzees, the supplements we use are very specific so a contribution to the In a Nutshell Fund would be more effective in ensuring their needs are met.
Fauna’s summer interns will be focused on observing and documenting how the chimpanzees use enrichment. This research will help us better understand the needs of our residents to ensure they receive the highest level of care. To help us provide the chimpanzees with a varied and interesting collection of toys, grooming objects dress up items, please contribute to the ACTION! Enrichment Campaign! Every dollar donated will go directly towards purchasing items for the Fauna chimpanzees. Don’t forget: please indicate you would like your donation to be used for the enrichment fund.
Becoming a Fauna Supporter demonstrates your commitment to the chimps and other residents at Fauna, and goes a long way in helping us care for them in their retirement. To learn more about becoming a Fauna Supporter, click here.
In addition to donating cash and allowing us to use it as needed, you can consider adopting a chimp. Through Fauna’s Adopt-a-Chimp program, you play an important role in the chimps’ ongoing recovery. The only hard part will be deciding which chimp you’d like to “adopt”! To learn more about our Adopt-a-Chimp program and meet our chimps, click here.
We use a lot of items each and every day caring for Fauna’s residents, both big and small. For a list of the supplies and toys we need, check out the list on our Everyday Items page. To make it even easier for you to help, we’ve compiled a list directly on Amazon so you can shop straight from our Amazon Wishlist. When you order items via Amazon, they will be shipped directly to us, making it very convenient. If you have questions on what we can and cannot accept, please review our list of non-donatable items.
Some customer loyalty and rewards programs allow you to donate your points to organizations like us. Other rewards programs allow you to purchase items through their program. Why not consider redeeming points on your reward/points program by purchasing items we need, such as items on our Amazon Wish List? Put those accruing points to good use! Contact us directly or consult your rewards program for more details.
Your time is as important to us as money. If you live in the area and have some skills and time, we will surely do our best to find a volunteer position for you, perhaps painting a fence or planting some flowers or even stuffing envelopes. Every bit of effort helps. Click here to learn more about volunteering at Fauna.
